Old Florida Reels Maintenance Instructions:

1.
Tighten drag knob and rinse reel in warm water after each exposure to saltwater.

2.
Always remove sand and grit after use.

3.
If reel is submerged, make sure your reel is completely dry (inside and out) before storing.

4.
If submerged in salt water, separate the spool from the housing and thoroughly rinse housing and spool.

5.
We suggest that every six months you remove the spool from the housing apply an even amount of Slippery No. 5 Lube to the cork. You may also apply a light coat of neat's foot oil, but it will require more frequent applications than with our Slippery No. 5 Lube.

6.
Keep drag shaft, spool shaft and pawl lubricated with medium to heavy all-purpose grease.

- Caution -

NEVER use petroleum based oils or greases. This will break down the cork, attract salt and dirt and will severely affect the performance and start-up inertia of your reel, and may cause serious damage to the reel. Use of petroleum based oils or grease on your reel will void your warranty.
