World Record Spearfish on IGFA Fly
On June 20, 2008, Nautilus Reels president Kristen Mustad caught an approx 100lb Atlantic Spearfish that would have been the new fly world record for 20lb tippet, had he not chosen to release it. It was a very old fish, unusually large for the species, and it was quickly put back in the water until it swam off by itself. Free to spawn another day! Caught on the Nautilus 12S in 20 minutes. |

100# Yellowfin Tuna on Fly
Here is a picture of a happy Jesse Lange with a not so happy, pre-sushi, pre-barbecue 100lb Yellowfin Tuna caught off Christmas Island. Not the first one to catch a 100 pounder, but probably the second. My hat goes of to Jesse for such a fabulous fish!
The reel: Nautilus 12S. 1.5 hrs to land the monster.
Congrats! |

NICE CUDA on Nautilus 12 Fly Reel
Was heading back to the lodge, Andros South on South Andros Island when the guide spotted this fish hanging on the flat. I cast to him and tried to keep the fly from getting too deep in his mouth as I didn't have a wire leader on. Hooked him right in the lip! Not a single nick in my fluorocarbon shock tippet...10 wt rod and a Nautilus 12. Photo by Dave Farley |
