Fly Reels for Haiti
In January of 2010 we sold 10 Nautilus reels on ebay and raised $5400 that were donated in equal parts to Unicef and Save the Children. Scroll down for more information on the reels the donors purchased and how they customized them.
The people of Haiti are little better off today than they were just after the earthquake: homelessness, diseases, hunger, etc still plague the population on a daily basis. Please continue to donate to the people of Haiti. One dollar matters a lot, and it goes a long way when we all contribute. We raised $5,400.00 from the auction. 9 of 10 reels sold on eBay and another one offline 3 days after the auction. Our customers and donors to the people of Haiti are receiving the following reels:
- NV 8/9 in Blue Type III Mil Spec anodizing. Customized further with the custom Bonefish package.
- A Nautilus CCF 8 in brushed silver
- NV 6/7 in black with custom drag knob dials and the lighter NV5/6 drag unit (total weight 6.0 oz).
- NV 11/12 in black with custom drag knob dials and external backing lines.
- NV5/6 in black with custom drag knob dials and name engraving.
- A CCF 12DD in silver with custom burned orange anodized reel foot and drag knob, drag knob dials, external backing lines, steelhead engraving on frame and big game handle.
- Feather Weight 5 in custom moss green with custom trout package and name engraving.
- NV 5/6 in custom burned orange anodizing, drag knob dials and name engraving.
- CCF 10 in silver.
- NV8/9 in Silver
Some fly fishing reels were substituted for different models than the ones that were sold, but the donations remained the same or went up. All custom features except the custom colored reels were provided free of charge as an added incentive for customers to bid. Each and every one of these reels are considered one of a kind reels, and more so because they helped us be able to donate this amount of money to Haiti.

$2,700.00 to UNICEF and their fund for Haiti (www.unicefusa.org), and
$2,700.00 to Save the Children Foundation's Haiti earthquake Children in Emergency Fund (www.savethechildren.org)
